About Westfalen Trading

A bridge between North Rhine-Westphalia and Africa.

German engineering discipline, applied with deep-rooted African market intelligence.

Our story

From university friendships in NRW to a Europe–Africa trade bridge.

The foundation of Westfalen Trading Limited was laid in the 1990s in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany, where the company's founding directors first met while pursuing their university education. Renowned as Germany's premier industrial and economic powerhouse, NRW is globally celebrated for its engineering excellence, cutting-edge research and world-class production standards. Inspired by this environment of innovation and precision, the founders envisioned a specialized enterprise that would serve as a vital conduit for technological innovation, knowledge transfer and premium service delivery between Europe and Africa.

Following their academic pursuits, the directors embarked on complementary professional paths: one built a career as a civil engineer in Germany, while the other returned to Kenya to spearhead initiatives in enterprise business computing and technology integration. Drawing on their combined expertise and the professional network cultivated in Europe, the pair spent years collaborating informally to deliver tailored, high-impact solutions to diverse industries across the region.

The formalization process began in Kenya on 1 November 2016, when the business was registered as an agency. This foundation culminated in the incorporation of Westfalen Trading as a Limited Liability Company on 11 December 2025.

Today, Westfalen Trading benefits from active business relationships with leading manufacturers, technology providers and engineering firms across North Rhine-Westphalia and the broader European market. Direct representation in Europe enables active participation in key trade fairs, technology expos and industrial forums, ensuring seamless access to OEM-grade systems and international best practice as we expand our footprint across Kenya and the African continent.
